You ever have one of those days where some mirrors make you look good, and some……… well, not so much? I have a giant mirror at the end of my hallway in the house. I walk past it maybe 15 times a day. I swear to God it’s one of those fun-house mirrors. I only bought the thing earlier last year, to use for practicing my posing in when getting ready for my last body building shows.
It never really sank in, that mirrors lie, until I went to a science museum last month. I was checking out this little experiment/exhibit that was demonstrating how mirrors are really just a reflection of light. Just as music doesn’t come out as music, but merely as sound waves. It’s not until the sound waves hit our brains, that the “music” becomes “music”. Same with a mirror. Depending on how the lighting is in the room where the mirror is, on top of how you, or the person viewing themselves, is feeling about oneself, will declare how the image comes back to the brain. The old saying, “beauty is within the eye of the beholder” really is true.
If you go and look in the mirror when you’re already feeling shitty about yourself, you’re brain is going to tell you what it wants to see.
Does that make sense?

I SEEN The Magic School Bus alright! I can dig it.
Hello Ms Olson,
To me it makes sense
, but that’s probably because I’m a painter and light is for us just like iron for you: have to play with it! – perhaps i can purpose you my portraits talents, sometimes the “mirrors” created by artists go deeper than common mirrors, write me an e-mail(roberttod8@gmail.com) if you are interested, I promise a work that will not leave you cold.
Cheers,
Rob
