			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This video is just a little taste as to what Muay Thai is all about.  George Pergialis is a world champion kickboxer and expert on several different styles of martial arts.  He&#8217;s very passionate about Muay Thai not only because the art is so powerful, but because it is a way of life for so many Thai people.  The second part of the video will have a little pieces on what basic strikes are used in Muay Thai.   Towards the end I ask George if he thinks more Women should come out and learn.  Women tend to be more relaxed than men, and learn the technique a bit quicker.  Except for me of course <img src='http://konfidencebykortney.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt="icon smile Muay Thai, Self Defense for Women with Kortney Olson" class='wp-smiley' title="Muay Thai, Self Defense for Women with Kortney Olson" />   I continually try to smash the pads, and keep forgetting that technique over rides strength, just as in all martial arts.  It&#8217;s critical to put your ego aside, learn the technique properly, then follow up with speed.  Eventually the strength and power come after.</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t have to plan on fighting in the MMA or even doing any amateur  fights to enjoy Muay Thai.  It&#8217;s a killer way to get your cardio done, as well as learning some basic self defense movements.  Unlike traditional kickboxing or boxing, you learn to strike with your knees and elbows.  Even shadow boxing by yourself, is an epic workout.  The beautiful thing is, you can do it ANYWHERE, and you don&#8217;t need gloves, shin guards, pads or wrist wraps.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a topic I&#8217;m not excited to talk about.  However, I find the more women I open up to about it, the more women have been in some kind of similar situation.  This type of thing happens constantly, and it&#8217;s really frustrating.  What makes me the most upset, is that it took me several years to learn that it wasn&#8217;t my fault; that I did not lead this person on in any way, shape, or form.</p>
<p>The more women can get it out in the open, talk about it, put it to rest, educate other women, the less it will happen.  The female/male power structure has been out of whack for several of thousands years.  It&#8217;s imperative that we bring it back into balance for the future of the human race. Every where you look, at this very second in time, war is wages everywhere.  Between countries, between families, famine, disease&#8230; It could all be solved if there wasn&#8217;t such a struggle over power and masculinity.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s time to even the playing field.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I owe it all to <em><a href="http://www.joaniegreggains.com/">Joanie Greggains</a> </em>baby!  My Dad gave me his old VHS tape (or maybe I just took ownership of it) at the tender age of 7.  I mean, after all, I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the days before cable television.  All I had to play with were sticks, my Dad&#8217;s weights, a basketball, and my new cherished VHS tape &#8216;abs of steel, by Joanie Greggains&#8217;.  hahahaha!</p>
<p>All kidding aside, this is just some casual chat on how I got to achieving my life-long goal of displaying 6-pack abs&#8230; mmm more like 10-pack!  Sucking, tightening, and flexing your core, all while driving, walking, or doing any other activity you can think of, throughout the day, will really help you get connected with your center section.  Visualization, and really sticking to your goal&#8230;.</p>
<p>Especially for us women, it&#8217;s even more important to put the extra work in, because we don&#8217;t get those 6 pack abs as easily as men do.  Really using those hips when walking, or doing any form of cardio, will help get that defined, tightened look in the middle.</p>
<p>I highly recommend setting yourself TINY goals at the start.  Start by telling yourself you are going to do 10 crunches upon getting out of bed in the morning.  JUST 10!  HOW EASY IS THAT!!!!!  Once your ass is down there, you&#8217;ll find that your goal is actually pretty easy, and chances are, you&#8217;ll keep going.  Before you know it, you&#8217;ll have formed a habit.  All you have to focus on, is having an attitude of  &#8216;just do it&#8217;, and telling that little voice inside your head that&#8217;s trying to talk you out of doing it, to &#8220;STFU!!!!!!!!!&#8221;.</p>
