			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I owe it all to <em>Joanie Greggains </em>baby!  My Dad gave me his old VHS tape (or maybe I just took ownership of it) at the tender age of 7.  I mean, after all, I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the days before cable television.  All I had to play with were sticks, my Dad&#8217;s weights, a basketball, and my new cherished VHS tape &#8216;abs of steel, by Joanie Greggains&#8217;.  hahahaha!</p>
<p>All kidding aside, this is just some casual chat on how I got to achieving my life-long goal of displaying a 6-pack&#8230; mmm more like 10-pack!  Sucking, tightening, and flexing your core, all while driving, walking, or doing any other activity you can think of, throughout the day, will really help you get connected with your center section.  Visualization, and really sticking to your goal&#8230;.</p>
<p>Especially for us women, it&#8217;s even more important to put the extra work in, because we don&#8217;t get abs as easily as men do.  Really using those hips when walking, or doing any form of cardio, will help get that defined, tightened look in the middle.</p>
<p>I highly recommend setting yourself TINY goals at the start.  Start by telling yourself you are going to do 10 crunches upon getting out of bed in the morning.  JUST 10!  HOW EASY IS THAT!!!!!  Once your ass is down there, you&#8217;ll find that your goal is actually pretty easy, and chances are, you&#8217;ll keep going.  Before you know it, you&#8217;ll have formed a habit.  All you have to focus on, is having an attitude of  &#8216;just do it&#8217;, and telling that little voice inside your head that&#8217;s trying to talk you out of doing it, to &#8220;STFU!!!!!!!!!&#8221;.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a little snap shot of what it&#8217;s like in a super-cross training session.  Rich Anderson @ <a title="http://www.ispacefitworx.com/" href="http://www.ispacefitworx.com/" target="_blank">http://www.ispacefitworx.com/</a> is one of my previous mentors.  He&#8217;s known for being somewhat of a militant trainer, but goddammit he gets results!  You can see about half way through the video where he is literally kicking me in the stomach while I&#8217;m doing my wrestler twists, to trigger me to tighten my core.  Super cross is a combination of several different exercises all stationed back to back of each other, with about minute of each exercise, getting as many reps in as you can.  Super cross is a great way to get ripped, as you get a massive amount of cardio in, all while building functional strength.  Rich is a welder by trade, and built his gym, aka &#8216;fun house&#8217;, by hand.  From old car mufflers welded together, to the rope wall obstacle course, ispace fitworx has something fun to do in every inch of the shop.</p>
<p>To set up your own &#8216;super cross&#8217; routine, pick 12 different exercises and do them at a minute each, with no rest in between the &#8216;stations&#8217;.  If you&#8217;re in a gym, you can use all machines, or do a &#8216;station&#8217; that consists of using your own body as the machine, in between each machine.  A lot of gyms nowadays even have circuit training areas  designated within the gym itself.  Just use your imagination and don&#8217;t get too hung up on what might be &#8216;wrong&#8217; and &#8216;right&#8217;&#8230;. as long as you&#8217;re moving, you&#8217;re going in the right direction!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Grab your balls kids!  This is a brilliant core workout that takes no time at all.  Very effective, yet not time consuming at all.  Any level of fitness can do it.  Just adjust your reps accordingly.  If you are just starting out in your fitness endeavour, then keep your reps to 15-20.  If you&#8217;ve been at it for some time now, keep em up to 35-50.  changing up your routine, and shocking your body with new and innovative movements is KEY to keeping your core guessing what&#8217;s coming next.  On the flip side, if you are trying to build strength, the rule isn&#8217;t always the same.  Switching up and changing your routine isn&#8217;t as important for building strength.  What&#8217;s important in this scenario, is keeping low reps and higher weight.  But when it comes to your core, switch it up, keep it guessing, and keep it F U N!</p>
<p>I should mention that this is also a great way to feel like you&#8217;ve worked your entire body, when you don&#8217;t have a lot of time to get a workout in.  If this is all you are going to do for the day, or can do, then really flex ALL your muscles when going through the movements.  For example, holding yourself up on all 4 balls, will give your legs a workout, not just your core.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a question from a youtube user that I&#8217;ve been wanting to answer for a while now.  He wanted to know (as do many women out there&#8230; it&#8217;s a question I hear time and time again) how to work the upper part of the bicep.  There have only been a few times when I&#8217;ve actually seen myself so lean and ripped, that I could see the tendons that attach the top head of the bicep to the shoulder (your bicep has two head, hence &#8220;bi&#8221; translates to two, just as tricep, &#8220;tri&#8221; translates to three!).  Anyhow, I learned this awesome stuff from Cathy Paleo.  Miss Universe in the late 80&#8242;s, Catt has owned several gyms, and is a solid pioneer of the female body building world.  She jumped out of it back at the turn when it started to loose interest to the public, due to it becoming so political.</p>
<p>Anyhow, the hardest thing (mostly for men I reckon) for most people to do, is to actually use LIGHT WEIGHT when trying these new exercises.  I&#8217;m a stickler when it comes to getting the technique right.  Just as with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you can learn a bunch of crap very quickly.  However, it&#8217;s better to slowly learn the FOUNDATIONS and lay the blue print for the basics, then to learn a bunch of fancy sh*t that won&#8217;t help advance you in the long run.   A solid house is not built upon a shaky foundation, just as you can&#8217;t fire a canon from a canoe.  You pickin up what I&#8217;m layin down? <img src='http://konfidencebykortney.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Listen, I don&#8217;t know how many times I&#8217;ve mentioned this, but it took me forever to learn how to squat properly.  It took me damn near 12 years, to learn how to squat functionally.  I&#8217;ve worked with some of the best trainers in the world, and still no one got through to me.  Maybe I&#8217;m just stubborn, or wasn&#8217;t asking the right questions.  Learning proper form, alongside with varying my ratio of sets, reps and weights, has really made a massive impact on my overall improvement.  Getting that 30 degree turn out of the feet, shoulder width apart, sitting your hips back, and not just bending the knees forward, driving up through the heels&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.</p>
<p>I highly recommend sitting your ass down on a box, then trying to stand back up, and going straight up off the box, by only using your heels.  It takes some getting used to, but once you feel the difference, you won&#8217;t wanna stop.   Even just doing proper squat form, with no weights, is a great way to get your spirits up.  Drop whatever it is that your doing at the moment, and give it a go.  Do 10, and see how you feel.  I&#8217;ll keep the videos coming.  Just don&#8217;t be like me, and not want to practice because you didn&#8217;t come out of the womb perfect at it <img src='http://konfidencebykortney.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
